Fasting is primarily an act of willing abstinence or reduction from certain or all food, drink, or both, for a period of time. An absolute fast is normally defined as abstinence from all food and liquid for a defined period, usually a single day (24 hours), or several days. Other fasts may be only partially restrictive, limiting particular foods or substances. The fast may also be intermittent in nature. Fasting practices may preclude sexual intercourse and other activities as well as food.

Does Fasting please God?

God is pleased with one who does fast and God is pleased if one does not fast. It is the reason why fasting is done that pleases or displeases God.

1cor 8:13 if food makes my brother stumble, I will never again eat meat at all, so that I will not make my brother stumble.

So only the person in question can vow, to fast or not, before God. No one else can make that decicion for him. For, if it is enforced on him by someone else, how does it show his free will? God will not be pleased with a obliged fasting like ramadan. Besides ramadan is not really fasting, it is the moving of the eating hours to late in the evening!

Matt 6:16-18 When you fast, stop becoming sad-faced like the saracen(*) hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces so they may appear to men to be fasting. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. 17 But you, when fasting, put oil on your head and wash your face, 18 so that you may not appear to be fasting to men but only to your Father who is in secret. Then your Father who looks on in secret will repay you.

Jesvs and fasting

When Jesvs was tempted by the Devil in the wildernis, it is said that he fasted fourty days. But it does not say He did not drink water during His fasting period! Would He not have drunk water even being the messiah, would not have helped Him. The Saviour would have died after six days! So what does this teach us? That Jesvs did drink water during his fasting period.

To force one not to drink water during his fasting period is not only inhuman but outright evil! A commandment that did not come from God!

Rich foods are not permitted during a fasting.

What does the Templar Kingdom consider proper fasting?

  • the intake of spiritual food, like reading the Bible.
  • the obstaining from sexual contact/conduct, including kissing.
  • the obstaning of "rich" foods, like any type of meat, dairy products etc.
  • the obstaning from "rich" drinks, like wine, milk, fruit juices, coffee, tea etc

the intake of water for thirst and the eating of unleavened bread, are always permitted during a fasting period.

Halael

Could Christians eat Halael food?

No! the Bible is very clear about it:

Acts 15:28 For the holy spirit and we ourselves have favored adding no further burden to you except these necessary things: 29 to keep abstaining from things sacrificed to idols, from blood, from what is strangled, and from sexual immorality. If you carefully keep yourselves from these things, you will prosper. Good health to you!”

How could a Christian in good conscience eat something dedicated to a idol god when there is clear halael sticker on the food product?

halael labels; indicating foods sacrificed to idols.
